Content Management

How to Edit Content with ElasticWCM

ElasticWCM is incredibly easy to use.

A user having appropriate permissions will see "Edit Page" button at the bottom of a web page. After clicking the button the user will be redirected to the Page Editor screen displaying page's Content Fields in editable format. When finished editing, the user clicks "Check In" button to save draft version for subsequent review, or "Publish" button to make the new page content visible for web site visitors.

Content Fields

Content Fields define what content should appear on a web page, and how each field should appear (such as a single line of text, a rich HTML text, or a picture). Data entered in content fields is stored in ElasticWCM Content Database. When a visitor views the published page, content is pulled from the database and displayed on the page.

Content can be entered into Content Fields by a user having content management permissions. Depending on the permissions user may be limited to a specific fields or actions that user can perform.

Permissions and Page Toolbar

Page Toolbar is a set of buttons providing authorized users with a way to perform content management. Page Toolbar is typically placed at the bottom of a web page. Depending on the permissions granted to a particular user that user can see different buttons displayed in the Page Toolbar.

Check In, Check Out, and Publishing

ElasticWCM allows users to Check Out / Check In content fields. When a field is checked out to a user, that user is the only one allowed making changes to the content field. While a field is checked-out the changes in that field are not visible to other users. The field will remain locked (checked-out) until user releases it by checking it in. Content administrator with appropriate permissions can discard the checked-out lock made by a user.

To make new content visible to all site visitors the content field must be Published. Only users with appropriate permissions can publish content.

Account Dashboard

ElasticWCM Account Dashboard offers a view into the data associated with your ElasticWCM Subscription. Account Dashboard allows you to manage content quota usage, edit company and user profile, view your subscription Keys, perform content backup/restore, and change content versioning parameters.
